Lowell Bent

Obituary of Lowell Bent

Please share a memory of Lowell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

After a brief and valiant struggle with cancer, Lowell Bent passed peacefully on March 20, 2022, with his loving wife Kathy by his side.  Kathy is so very grateful for the compassionate care and support from Dr. Calhoun and the staff at the Three Hills Hospital.

Lowell was born in June 1946 in Middleton, Nova Scotia and was raised in Beaconsfield, Nova Scotia.  There he purchased and converted his childhood school into a home where he and his wife Rose raised their three children.  He provided for the family as a butcher, dairy herdsman, tree faller, sawmill owner and a labourer at the United Elastic Plant.

In 1998 he moved to Acme, Alberta where he worked at Sunterra Farms for 20 years.  His co-workers remember and always considered him an honest, loyal, reliable, and hard-working individual.

In 2013 Lowell and Rose began a friendship with Kathy. Rose and Kathy were best friends. In 2016 Miss Rose lost her battle with cancer. With blessings from Miss Rose, Kathy and Lowell united in marriage in August 2017.  In their retirement they enjoyed travelling throughout Canada, bird watching, gardening and a shared passion for quilt making.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife; Kathy Bent, his daughters; Lisa Banks (Murray) and Heidi Bent (Jim), son; Robert Bent (Linda), stepchildren; Neil Saxena and Karmen Saxena, sister; Lee Reece (Wesley), granddaughter; Katherine Bryson (Matthew), and great grandchildren; Henry and Sybil Bryson.  Predeceased by his first wife Rose and his parents Stella and Leonard Bent.

In honour of Lowell’s love for blue jays and owls, donations may be made to the Owl Rescue Foundation in Lowell’s name at the Medicine River Wildlife Center at https://medicineriverwildlifecentre.ca.

A Celebration of Lowell’s life will be held in Linden on April 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Linden Alliance Church, 614 Central Avenue W. Bring memories, smiles and a happy heart.
