Obituary of Katie Toews

Katie Toews (Klassen) was born on March 26, 1921 in Chortiza, Ukraine, the second of 10 children born to Gerhard and Katharina Klassen. The Family immigrated to Germany in October of 1943 and later to Canada. Katie married Walter Toews on July 30, 1955.

Katie, Walter & John lived at Sunnyslope and Acme before making Linden their official residence. She was the Custodian at MB Church later at the Dr. Elliott School. Katie was Mrs. Hospitality to any and all who would grace her door, and she dearly loved her Family.

Katie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in Germany in 1948 and rarely, if ever, did one have a dialogue without her quoting Scripture. Without a doubt, Jesus was the central focus of her very being.

In 2004 Katy and Walter sold their house, and moved into Lynn Haven. After 3 years they moved to the Lodge. In Nov of 2011, Katy buried Walter, the love of her life. Katie moved into the Sylvan Lake Lodge and later to Bethany Sylvan Lake in August 2014.

She is pre-deceased by her parents Gerhard and Katharina Klassen, Daughter Irma Klassen, Brothers Henry, John, Peter, George and Abe Klassen, Sister Helen Unfried, Husband Walter Toews. Grand daughter Carol Mclntee, and Grand Son Craig Seifert.
