Kevyn James Douglas Astley
Passed away on November 9, 2020 in Swalwell, Alberta at the age of 56.
There will not be a funeral service for Kevyn, but there will be a celebration of his life in British Columbia next summer and one in Calgary as well.
Kevyn was born in Galt, Ontario to Joan Astley (Curzon) and Kevyn Astley Sr. on April 30, 1964.
From Galt, the family moved to Whiterock, BC in 1969 until 1977 when Kevin joined the Katimavik Experience. He spent the next year travelling around Canada and had numerous stories and experiences which he shared with anyone who would listen. After completing Katimavik, he had some different jobs until signing on with SeaSpan International where he was employed as a cook/deckhand. He was employed for about ten years. After SeaSpan, Kevyn worked in many different positions in many different fields and did some more travelling, His favorite place to visit was Mexico. Kevyn, always the avid adventurer left BC and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After freezing for a few winters in Manitoba, Kevyn moved to Calgary where he lived a rather interesting life. Kevyn spent a good part of his life in Calgary helping the marginalized and less fortunate people he met, cooking food for them and always looking out for them
He leaves behind the love of his life Joanne Gallant of Swalwell, His parents Joan and Kevyn Sr. of Surrey BC, his sister Sandra (Larry (Carp) of Abbottsford, his sister Laurie (Claude) of Cloverdale, BC, nephew, James, (Jenny), two great nephews, nieces, Marquesa, Nicole, Carley and Chrystal. As well, Kevyn leaves behind numerous life long friends some of whom will remember him as Custer.
