Obituary of Edwin Wiebe

Our Dad and Grandpa, Jacob Edwin Wiebe was born on February 22, 1931, to Peter P. and Susie (Reimer) Wiebe at Linden, AB. He peacefully passed away on March 25, 2020, at Westview Care Community, reaching the age of 89 years. Dad, with his parents and brother Elmer, moved to the family farm when he was five years old. He took his schooling at the Linden School. At a young age Dad gave his heart and life to Jesus and was baptized on December 19, 1943, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Dad had a solid, unwavering faith in God. On June 17, 1960, Dad was united in marriage to our mother, Verna Penner, at Rosenort, MB. Our parents enjoyed life together for 59 years. Four children blessed their home, two sons and two daughters. Dad was a kind and patient father, teaching us by example the important things of life. In his quiet ways, he was our rock and pillar. His generosity blessed his family and many others. Each of his grandchildren were special to him. We have many happy memories of family trips and outings. Grain farming and raising broilers were Dad’s enjoyment and occupation. In the fall of 2003, Dad and Mom moved into their retirement home in Linden. Dad then had time to pursue his hobby of woodworking. In 2005 he began to lose his hearing, and that was a life changing handicap for him. Today we rejoice that he is made completely whole. In 2014, our parents moved into Westview Suites. Dad spent his last two years in full care. Dad and Mom had a deep love for each other and enjoyed doing everything together. That wish was granted now again when Dad joined Mom in Heaven just four months after Mom was taken. Those left to cherish fond memories are: four children; Dale and Charmaine and grandson Justin (Linden); Rosalie Unruh (Linden) and granddaughter Crystal and Waylen Becker (Farwell, TX); Inez (Dauphin, MB); Randel and Laurie and granddaughters Peggy and Stacey (Linden); brother Elmer Wiebe; sister-in-law, Doris Penner; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. Loved ones gone before are his wife, parents, parents-in-law, one son-in-law, one brother (in infancy), three brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law. We, as a family express our gratefulness for the compassionate care Dad received at Westview Care Community. Please post your memories public so this can be in lieu of a memory service.
