Obituary of Ethel Rosina Jasman-Skokowski
Announcement of Passing
Ethel R. Jasman-Skokowski passed away at Rockyview Hospital, Calgary, on March 4, 2020. Born in 1932 to Paulina and Ben Jasman near Castor, Alberta, Ethel grew up in the Three Hills area. She lived a life filled with song, dancing, playing instruments, and teaming with her husband, Eugene, to bring music (dance, song, keyboard, strings, guitar, to many clubs--the Polish Canadian in particular—and to events and celebrations in and around Calgary. With her Mother Paulina, she supported many leadership organizations provincially, nationally and internationally. An avid photographer and recorder, Ethel documented many trips, events and family history with photos, videotapes, written documentaries, and sound recordings.
Ethel was proud of her heritage, Germans from Russia, and of her parents dedication to the establishment and running of the Kneehill Historical Museum at Three Hills. Throughout her life she took keen interest in the Museum’s affairs and donated many pioneering artefacts, as well as provided advice and support for its operations. Predeceased by her parents, brother Alvin, sister Twyla, and husband Eugene Skokowski, Ethel’s directed there be no funeral. Inurnment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Calgary at a time to be decided.
