Please share a memory of Agnes to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Agnes Hiebert Wiebe was born on June 9, 1930, to Min. Frank and Katherine Toews Hiebert. Mom peacefully passed away in the early hours of February 24, 2020 at Westview Care Community.Mom grew up on the family farm, the fourth youngest in a large family. As a child, she loved playing with kittens. Together with her younger sister Mildred and their border collie, Mom herded cows during summer holidays. As a young teenager, the Lord forgave her sins and she gave her heart to Him. Mom was baptized, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. She married Elmer Wiebe on November 6, 1955. Their home was blessed with three sons and two daughters. As more joined our family, no one was considered an in-law. Everyone was family. Mom taught us, if you do something, learn to do it well. From the accuracy of a stack of neatly folded towels to setting an attractive, orderly table, details were important. Mom enjoyed doing handwork. She learned to tatt, embroider, hem stitch, knit, and crochet. Mom recognized the beauty of a flower. The grandchildren were special to Mom. She enjoyed it when they came to spend the day at their house and cheerfully did countless hours of babysitting. They were very tolerant of unexpected changes to our schedules, and they would welcome us no matter when we arrived. They enjoyed helping make a big batch of applesauce or harvest a large crop of rhubarb. When they'd park their RV on our yards, what fun it was to go have breakfast with them. Pizza night, coleslaw, and cheesecake are specialties we enjoyed at their house. March 1, 2016, Mom and Dad moved into The Suites at Westview Care Community where they enjoyed the fellowship of the other residents and the friendly workers. Even after she moved into Full Care, Mom and Dad were especially grateful for the daily cheerfulness and kindness of the staff. Mom enjoyed her and Dad's devotional prayer at the end of each day. Her faith endured to the end. Those left to cherish memories: our Dad, Elmer, Rod and Judy, Linden, AB; Elaine and Jeff Barkman, Rimbey, AB; Dallen and Grace, Armstrong, BC; Reg and Lindy, Linden, AB; Margie and Clarence Parsons, Clearwater County, AB; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. Siblings: Helen Unruh, Dinah Friesen, Ben Hiebert, Mildred and Claude Wiebe, Brother-in-law Edwin Wiebe.
