Enoch Christiansen

Obituary of Enoch Edward Christiansen

Enoch Edward Christiansen of Acme, Alberta passed away peacefully on May 22nd, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Enoch was born August 29th, 1937 in Spruce View, Alberta, on the family farm. He was the youngest of 11 children. Enoch attended the New Raven School which was 1 ½ miles from his home. Most of the time, he would walk to school or ride his horse. On occasion, he was fortunate enough to score the family bike or catch a ride with the milk truck. After he completed high school, he worked at the seed cleaning plant in Innisfail, as well as helping out on the family farm.

Looking for a little more adventure in his life, Enoch moved to Calgary in June of 1956. There he worked at a brake and clutch shop. In 1958, Enoch met the love of his life, Marilyn Easterbrook. They were married on the 7th of May, 1960. The happy couple resided in Calgary where their 3 sons, Kevin, Glen and Bradly, were born.  After 15 years of city life, Enoch decided that the rural lifestyle was the way he wanted to raise his family so in 1972 the family moved from Calgary to a farm west of Acme. This would become his home for next 45 years. Enoch derived great satisfaction from expanding his hog and grain operation. This made for long, hard days but he still made time for his family and friends. He treasured his time with the grandchildren, whether it was birthday parties or taking them camping. Enoch’s pastimes included winter evenings at the curling rink, hosting many dinner and card parties, and travelling to numerous square-dancing jamborees.

Around their 25th wedding anniversary, Enoch decided to rent out his hog barns which allowed Marilyn and him to enjoy the fruits of their hard work and they began to travel. They went to many exotic destinations over the years but especially enjoyed their time in the RV, venturing to warmer climates in the winter. Yuma and Radium Hot Springs were two of their favourite destinations.

In later years, as Marilyn’s health deteriorated, Enoch took on the role of full-time caregiver until her passing in 2013. He remained on the farm for the next four years until it became necessary for him to move to Aspen Ridge in Red Deer. Here Enoch received excellent care for the past two years.

Enoch is survived by his sons Kevin (Pat), Glen (Donna), Bradly (Jennifer), and grandchildren Alysha, Jared, Craig, Dana and Ric. He is also survived by his sister Alma Morrison and his brother Eric.

If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made directly to the Acme United Church.
